MiniTool Partition Wizard Review

The larger a hard disk is, the more valuable it is to divide it into partitions. This way, you’ll be able to organize your files better, and specific programs will benefit from it. Windows offers some tools for managing partitions, but Minitool Partition Wizard is more complete. It allows you to split, merge, convert, delete, copy and assign a new drive letter to partitions, among other things. You can also use Partition Wizard to move your operating system. Unfortunately, you can only recover an accidentally deleted partition with the paid version. MiniTool Partition Wizard Free helps users manage hard disks and partitions, check file systems, align SSD partitions, migrate operating systems to SSDs, clone hard disks, convert MBR to GPT, etc.

Aiming to become the most potent free partition manager, in the long run, it keeps adding new features like Disk Benchmark and Space Analyzer to provide users with the best experience. Home users can perform complicated partition operations with this powerful but free partition manager to manage their hard disk partition, such as resize partition, copy partition, create the partition, delete partition, format partition, convert partition, Explore partition, hide partition, change drive letter, set active partition, convert dynamic disk to basic disk, surface test, change partition serial number, change partition type ID and recover partition. MiniTool Partition Wizard software supports 32/64 bit Windows operating systems.

MiniTool Partition Wizard is accessible for both home users with Windows PCs and business users with Windows PCs and servers. MiniTool Partition Wizard also lets you create, delete, format, move and copy disks, among other things. Besides, it can help you access and recover lost or deleted data and partitions. The manufacturer provides around-the-clock technical support for any problems that may occur.

Interface and in use

To use MiniTool Partition Wizard, you need a PC with any version of Windows, from XP to 10. Since the software performs various tasks, each task has its icon at the top of the window, which opens in a new tab when you click on it. The Partition Management tab is open always. All the functions that can be performed are located in the left pane. Clicking on one of the menu items will launch a wizard that will guide you through the process of the task you have chosen. The step-by-step approach is beneficial for those unfamiliar with this type of operation.

A good addition is the preview of pending operations at the bottom of the left window. When you make changes, they are not applied immediately but are displayed in the Pending area, and you can either apply or undo them. Such a safety net is great, but we found the size of this area a bit annoying, as it covers a large part of the function list, and you have to scroll to see all the functions. Another point that detracts from the free version’s usability is that many of the menu items and icons are actually for features that are only available in the Pro versions and for which you have to purchase an upgrade.

Is MiniTool Partition Wizard Safe

Now we come to the next big question: is MiniTool Partition Wizard safe? The company behind this tool is a renowned software developer that has been around for over ten years. It is a flawless program that has delivered excellent results for a long time. Of course, there is nothing to worry about when you use the partitioning tool for Windows to manage your hard drives. The developer has fixed even the only problem when using such a tool. The software will not let you make changes until it is sure that you want to.

The preview area makes sure that this works flawlessly. So if you make a mistake, the program allows you to correct it. The company also has good customer support and several written resources that you can rely on. All in all, this program is as safe as it gets.

Plans and pricing

MiniTool Partition Wizard is accessible for both home and business use. For home users, there is a Free and a Pro edition. With the free version (which opens in a new tab), you can perform several partitioning operations, check the file system and convert FAT to NTFS. However, you need one of the Pro editions for advanced features such as converting dynamic disks to simple disks, copying disks, and creating bootable media. Pro(opens in a new tab) costs $59, and Pro Deluxe(opens in a new tab) costs $99 for a single PC and a one-year subscription. Deluxe adds the ability to restore partitions and data.

For businesses, there are both server and enterprise plans. Server plans are for single-PC licenses and cost $159 for the standard plan and $259 for the free lifetime upgrade option. Pro Ultimate, which costs $129 and is for three PCs, includes all the features of the other programs and comes with a lifetime license. There are three Enterprise plans: Standard for $399, a free lifetime upgrade option for $499, and Technician for $699. The Technician plan is licensed for use on 299 PCs or servers anywhere, while the other plans are licensed for only 99 machines in a single enterprise.

Final words

MiniTool Partition Wizard is a straightforward hard disk management software. We especially like that the software includes numerous wizards and predefined functions that make many tasks more manageable. Therefore, the software is also interesting for less experienced users. As with most of the free disk partitioning tools we reviewed, every change you make to the partitions and disks using this MiniTool Partition Wizard is first reflected virtually and then sent to the Pending Operations section of the program. This is an excellent feature as it enables you see how the partition changes you make will play out as soon as you click Apply without waiting for each step to be completed.

We also like that you can increase the system partition size without restarting the computer. This means that you can transfer unallocated space that is not being used to the system partition in seconds to make it bigger. Most free disk partitioning tools support this; however, not all of them. The main problem with the MiniTool program is that some features only seem to be available until you select them, at which point you are told you have to upgrade to a paid version to use them. For example, basic disks are supported, and dynamic disk options are visible, though you can’t convert a dynamic disk to a basic disk because you can’t manage dynamic disks with the free version. You’ll need the Pro or Server edition version to work with dynamic disks.
